The World Smallest Mamall

The Pygmy Marmoset (Callithrix (Cebuella) Pygmaea) is an animal native to the Amazon rainforest. This yellow-brown furry animal is also commonly called a thumb monkey. The reason is because its body size is only as big as an adult's thumb. Obviously, this animal only weighs approximately 120 grams (females) to 140 grams (males). Its body length is only about 14-16 cm (equivalent to 5-6 inches), including its tail.

Pygmy marmosets have sharp nails that make climbing easier. They also have a tail that helps them balance when jumping over tree branches. Make no mistake, this agile animal is also able to turn its head up to 180°. This is to ensure its surroundings are safe from predators. Pygmy marmosets are omnivorous. It eats fruit, leaves, insects, liquid on the stems of woody plants, and sometimes small reptiles. Unfortunately, this unique and cute animal is almost extinct in its natural habitat. Many people like to hunt them down for sale or pets.
